SRS Strategy

Updated as of 1 Nov 2017
This blog documents Mr. IPO's strategy of investing using the SRS funds.

Targeted Companies
Companies listed on SGX and Catalist

Investment Style
Fundamental analysis is the key foundation for this investment style.  Stocks are selected using one of the following strategies:
  1. The stock generates a regular dividend or cash distribution (passive income)
  2. The stock is fundamentally attractive with reasonable valuation.
  3. The stock is showing promising growth and earnings potential
Contributed Capital
The SRS portfolio was started in 2006 with $11,475 contributed religiously till 2010. From 2011 to 2015, the contribution each year increased to $12,750. In line with the changes in contribution limit, the amount contributed increased to $15,300 from 2016 and 2017. As of 29 Oct 2017, the contributed capital is $151,275.

The investment cost of each position is typically between $20,000 to $50,000

Each initial position will have a cut loss point of around 8% to 10%. This is because Mr. IPO recognizes that his initial analysis may be wrong and need to pay school fees for this.

Time Horizon
Usually ranges from weeks to years

Targeted Returns
5% to 15% annually. The effect of compounding is awesome!

  1. hi Mr IPO,

do you actually contribute more than the SRS limit per year?

coz the SRS program is <10 years, each years limit is only 15+k, but you already have 150+k in your starting capital?
