SRS Portfolio 15 July 2023 & A Changing World

SRS Portfolio - 15 May 2023

The SRS Portfolio is in a "lull" period where I have nothing much to report on. I had wanted to deploy the cash into some securities or see how I can utilise my cash better through the Endowus platform but procrastinated as I just wanted to chill during the weekend.

The only party that would love to enjoy some lull now is probably the PAP government. It is "one bad news" after another. Just when you thought that the issues over the black and white bungalows are going to blow over, you have a "hot mic" issue followed by a potential scandal involving one Minister Iswaran and billionaire Ong Beng Seng. This latest saga is certainly no black and white and I hope it will be handled well, with open transparency. I guess everyone is following the news since it hits hard at the core of PAP values, clean government with zero tolerance for corruption. It also hit a raw nerve where a high salary was justified as necessary to attract talents and prevent corruption.

A changing world

The world after covid is also changing rapidly. China is struggling to find jobs for its youths as the economy is stuttering whereas the US is struggling to fill jobs as people refuse to return to office, with many preferring to adopt a flexible work arrangement. You have seen the share price of REITs with either US or China exposure performing rather badly. Funnily enough, the US stock market is picking up steam and seems to suggest the "worst is over". Let's see if the stock market is indeed the best predicting machine...

The world is also experiencing one of the worst climates this year with extreme weather hitting China, India and the USA (basically globally). I really can't imagine buying wine from England in the next decade, so let's do our little part in saving the world...and not send more junk into the moon while people are suffering...

Enjoy your weekend and whatever little ðŸ”† it brings.
