SRS Portfolio - 3 July 2022 & Bucket List Updated

The Singapore Savings Bonds hit 3% for the August 2022 issuance for the first time ever. See BT's report here and if you are keen to find out more, you can visit the SSB website here.

For the risk averse investors, you can finally get more for your savings but you can't outrun the projected inflation rate of 5% but at least you finally get more than the 2.5% in the CPF savings. Either the CPF savings should go up to 3% or investors should stop their "voluntary contribution" and just put into SSB instead?

For those who are keen to subscribe for the bonds, you may be interested to note the following:
  1. You cannot use your CPF to subscribe for the SSB (why cannot leh ? super safe leh 🙄)
  2. You can apply through both SRS and/or Cash from Monday to Saturday 7am to 9pm (in this time and age? 🤔)
  3. You can only invest a maximum of $200,000 (cannot favour the rich 🤑)
  4. This time round there will be $700m available but in the event of overwhelming demand, you will be partially allotted (meaning kena cut back 🤕)
  5.  If you apply using SRS and Cash and there is a "partial allocation", then whichever account you used to apply first will get the first allotment (First Apply First Kena 😬)
  6. You have up till 26 July 9pm to apply for the bonds ⏳
I will be asking wifey to apply for the bonds since this suits her risk profile best - bao jiak and won't get jiak - and if you belongs to the group that have $200,000 sitting in the bank account waiting for rainy days, then you can consider parking some into SSB since you can withdraw anytime but buffer some time for the cash to be returned to you (one month is adequate).

SRS Portfolio - 3 July 2022

I did my last update on 4 June 2022. Since then, I received $708 from AIMS and interest of $4.58

Distributions for June 2022

The portfolio value fell quite badly from $386k to $372k, driven by the drop in value across the board and especially from Daiwa House Logistics Trust ("DHLT").
DHLT dropped because of both rising interest rates as well as the drastic drop in Sgd/Yen rate, sort of a double whammy. 🤕 Sigh!

SRS account is sitting on a cash of $112,136 to be deployed.

Portfolio as of 3 July 2022

New Travel Experience (Bucket List Updated)

I also took advantage of a work trip to check off a few bucket list for my goal no. 5, one of which is to visit the Star Wars Galaxy Edge. If you are a Star Wars fan, then this is something not to be missed! Enjoy the pictures below...

Entrance to Millennium Falcon - Smuggler's Run

X-wing Starfighter

Entrance to the Star Wars area

R2-D2

Marketplace
Not too bad for the first half of 2022.

Happy SRSing (but don't forget to have a life) . . .
