SRS Portfolio as of 31 March 2023 + Walking a tightrope

Portfolio as of 31 March 2023

Time flew by and it is the end of Q1, 2023.

The SRS portfolio received $1,305 of distributions from Daiway House Logistics Trust this week and the local market also recovered in tandem with the US market. The portfolio value as of 31 March 2023 is $363,599, an improvement of $8,417 from the prior week.

Last few weeks has been interesting with a lot of media focused on our home grown talent, Tik Tok's CEO. I am glad to see Singapore being able to produce a talent on the global stage, especially in the tech world that is dominated by US and China. Well done Shou Zi Chew (but i believe he was chosen precisely because he is a Singaporean)!

Just when you think things could be settling down, US China tensions continue with the latest salvo being fired by China on Micron this weekend. We are in a world that is getting polarised.

China firing back at US ...

Similar to Shou Zi Chew, our government has also been working on a tight rope in its relationship with both US and China. It is probably a "recovery" from the low point for PM Lee who was not invited to the one belt one road party in 2017. Well, this is politics for you and as much as we aim to be Switzerland, it will be a tough balancing act, especially when we openly and inadvertently sided with US in the Ukarine-Russia conflict and that is not the option that Xi has picked. So here we go, walking on a tightrope and fingers crosssed...

Better times ahead?
